January's tear: William Yau

I am sure that everyone in the nation including myself is saddened by the fact that the body of  William Yau, a 6 year old boy was found in the Klang river few days ago. William Yau officially went missing on Jan 16th, where his parents left him and his another 2 siblings in the car, while they went out to shop for electronic appliances. Many speculations had been made and mostly are pointed towards the fault of the parents. Should the parents be blamed for being such ignorant? Why must both parents be present to shop for the electronic appliance? Why can't one of them stay in the car to look after the 3 young children? After all we are not the parents and our point of view definitely will be different. Some say this incident is a general lesson for all parents out there. What do you readers think? Should the parents be punished? *Life is full of unexpected expectations from people around us. In the end, the one who bears all these expectations are us and these could be a type of psychological suffering.

Irresponsible?

All Things Fastest : Animals

World's Fastest Animal on Air : Peregrine-Falcon

At top speed of 322 km/h (or more) the Peregrine-Falcon is no doubt the fastest bird in the world. Wait, it is also the fastest member of the animal kingdom!

World's Fastest Animal on Land : Cheetah

The undisputed champion of this group is no doubt the agile Cheetah a.k.a The Spotted One. This agile creature is best described as elegant and graceful, born in a smaller skeletal structure when compared to the majestic lion or the leopard.  Not long ago, a cheetah named Sarah broke her previous world record for completing 100m in 5.95s, while the fastest man in the world did 9.58s.

World's Fastest Animal on Sea : Sailfish

The Sailfish dubbed as the fastest fish in the world clocked the speed of 110km/h.

How To Decode Nvidia/Radeon Graphics Card Models.

Buying a new graphics card for you computer can be difficult if you don't know what you are looking for. This article will hopefully clear up any confusion you might have.

Normally with the latest graphic cards available, Nvidia GPU's come with 3 digit numbers and Radeon has 4 digit numbers. The 1st number is the generation of the card. For example, the Nvidia GT 530 would be part of the 500 series. Newer generation means more features and abilities (example from 500 to 600 series, the newer series would have a bunch of improvements/modifications from its predecessor). The same applies for Radeon the only difference being Radeon cards would have 4 numbers

The 2nd number is the relative speed in the lineup. So an Nvidia GT 520 would be 500 series and a 2 (low) end for speed. An Nvidia GTX 660 would be in the 600 series and 6 (mid-high) range for speed. An Nvidia GTX 690 would also be in the 600 series and 9 (very high end) for speed.

So if you compare a GT 640 to a GT 580, the GT 640 is a newer model with some nice upgrades from the 500 series but isn't a very fast gaming card (low middle). The GTX 580 is one series older but still top end card so would easily crush the GT 640 in terms of performance. Even a GTX 480 which is 2 generations old, but again high end for speed would totally destroy the GT 640.

[NOTE THAT THIS ONLY APPLIES FOR RADEON]
The 3rd digit is usually a 0 or 5. Between a 7900 and 7950 it usually means a newer revision. Same generation, same high end speed, but the 7950 got a revision over the 7900.

For Nvidia, GT, GS, GTX, GTS, etc are used to denote differences between fairly similar cards. Usually GT is base, GTS is better, GTX is extreme, and Ultra is high as they go. GS and GTS were used in older cards but nowadays the graphics cards only use GT GTX and GTM (for laptops only),

Leap Motion: The Keyboard and Mouse of Tomorrow

Today is slowly becoming more and more about touch screen technology. First with smart phones, then tablets, now with Windows 8 computers are getting ready to step onto the market. However, a touch screen monitor can be quite pricey these days. There is, however, a cheaper option coming to you soon though.
The Leap is a small USB peripheral that senses the unique motions of your finger tips and enacts them on the screen. This means you have touch screen technology right on your finger tips without actually touching your screen.
The Leap is not on the market until February 2013, but are currently accepting pre-orders. For Technology like this, most people would think it would be extremely expensive  However, this technology will only cost you the affordable price of RM 213 ($70).
It is essentially the size of a little flash drive, all you have to do is plug in your USB adapter and place in in front of your computer screen.

What Does It Do?

The Leap can do anything your fingers can. From navigating the Windows 8 navigation, to drawing in any 3D modelling software, to gaming! You name it, there are developers working on it right now.you can control just about any thing with the movements of your hand.It recognizes the difference between your thumbs and fingers and can even recognize a pencil. This makes the Leap the absolutely most advanced motion capture technology available to the general public.

Personally I haven't pre-ordered but I think I will be picking one up when they have their official launch. Feel free to leave a comment about your thoughts on the Leap Motion and whether this is something you will be interested in buying.

Why do men have nipples?

Once I've asked a few friends of mine this question - ''What are man nipples for?''.
Dear Nipples... ;)

And as expected, the answers were either ''I don't know'' or somewhat an erotic answer. Years of curiosity and confusion on why man needed nipples came to an end, thanks to asapSCIENCE with his colorful, entertaining yet educational video.
